What Do Our Volunteers Do?
We always need dependable and dedicated volunteers to deliver meals on
weekday mornings.
Drivers arrive at the Meals on Wheels house at the First Presbyterian Church by
11 a.m. Monday through Friday. Two people travel together on each route daily.
There are 6 routes, for a total of 12 volunteers needed each day. The fellowship is
fun, as the meals are pulled for each route. Following a quick prayer, everyone
leaves, route sheets in hand, to deliver meals to the day’s recipients.
How Do You Become a Volunteer?
If you want to volunteer, you can call Lynn Goswick
at lgoswick@alvinmealsonwheels.org or contact one of the churches listed below who are currently participating in the Alvin Meals on Wheels program. Each church provides
volunteer drivers on specific monthly schedules that they have set up. Each church
has a designated coordinator or two, and Lacey will be glad to put you in touch with
one of them.
We would love to have you join us full-time or as a “back-up” person who is willing
to be on call should we need an emergency substitute on a particular day. We’ll
always pair a “back-up” person with someone who knows the route and is grateful
that you’re able to help them out that day. We don’t need your know-how, just your
caring heart and willingness to donate an hour of your time.
